Effective date: March 22, 2026
Redline ("the app") is a free, independently built Android tool that helps rideshare drivers avoid areas they consider unsafe. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it's stored, and what control you have over it.
The short version: Your data is yours. We don't sell it, share it with advertisers, or use it for anything other than making the app work for you. There are no analytics, no tracking SDKs, and no third-party data brokers.
Account information. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address via Firebase Authentication. Sign-in is optional and is only used to enable cloud backup of your data.
Zones you create. When you draw avoidance zones on the map, we store the zone name, polygon coordinates, zone type (freehand, box, or city boundary), and creation timestamp.
Ride offer data. When a ride offer appears in the Lyft Driver app, Redline uses Android's Accessibility Service to read the offer details. This includes:
Location data. Pickup and dropoff addresses are geocoded (converted to latitude/longitude coordinates) so they can be checked against your zones. The app does not track your GPS location in the background.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond app functionality.
On your device. Zones are saved as a local JSON file. Ride offer captures are stored as daily log files in the app's private storage, accessible only to Redline.
In the cloud (optional). If you sign in, zones and ride offers are stored in Google Cloud Firestore under your unique user ID. Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored using Firebase's default encryption. Only you can access your data — there is no shared database, admin dashboard, or backend that aggregates user data across accounts.
Geocode cache. A local cache of address-to-coordinate lookups is kept on device to reduce redundant network requests. This cache stays on your device and is not synced.
The app interacts with the following external services:
There are no analytics SDKs, crash reporting tools, ad networks, or data brokers in the app.
Redline uses Android's Accessibility Service to read ride offer information from the Lyft Driver app. This is the core mechanism that powers the app.
com.lyft.android.driver). It does not read content from any other app.We do not sell, rent, license, or share your data with any third party. Period.
Your data may pass through the third-party services listed in Section 4 as part of normal app operation (e.g., syncing to Firestore), but it is not shared with those providers for their independent use.
Redline is not intended for use by anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
